06.06.2013 Applique Workshop: Cup Cozy

This month, we will be learning applique! Cristy will be teaching us Sharon Schamber's method for turned-edge machine applique. It's a lot of fun, and once you learn the technique, you can apply it to any applique project that you'd like. Let's get those machines stitchin'!
When: Saturday June 15th, at 1pm.
Where: Scrapbooks Etc. 2820 E University Dr, #111, Mesa, AZ 85213

Supplies:
Fabric, etc.:
Fat quarter of background fabric (not necessary to prewash)
Scraps for the applique (can be prewashed)
Fat eighth, or 11"x 5" cut of Insul-Brite batting
Applique Foundation (Cristy will have some available at the workshop)
Pattern printed on freezer paper (Cristy will have these available at the workshop)
Tools:
Elmer's Washable School Glue Stick (1 is plenty for this project)
Liquid Stitch with a fine glue tip
Cuticle Stick
Straight Pins
Hot/Dry Iron - no steam please
Hard Pressing Surface/Board
Scissors (sharp, medium sized with a blunt tip gives the best control for applique)
Pencil
Small Wash Cloth/Rag
Scrap of Freezer Paper (6-10")
Hand Sewing Needle
Button
Medium Elastic Hair Tie (color of choice) (Cristy will be bringing extras)
Sewing Stuff:
Sewing Machine that can do an adjustable zig-zag stitch
75/11 Machine Embroidery Needles, preferrably Schmetz
Bobbin Genies (optional, but preferred)
Polyester Monofilament Thread (Sulky or YLI is preferred) (NO rayon)
50 wt Cotton Thread, to match your background
